Presenting an innovative workshop for teachers in and around the New York City area. The aim of the workshop is to explore fresh ideas in Latin teaching. In particular, we will focus on engaging, standards-connected, and rigorous Latin language and Roman culture activities. Topics explored: grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, translation.
We will explore exciting methods of teaching, including learning games, kinesthetic activities, listening and speaking activities, multimedia and technology-based activities, and adaptations of modern language techniques.
The enthusiastic and fast-paced presentation, conducted by Matthew Webb, will include multimedia integration and hands-on interaction for participants, and provide opportunity for full-group discussion and analysis.
Professional Development: Participation certificates documenting contact hours sent to all participants.

Mr. Matthew Webb is the Director of Teacher Programs for Ascanius: The Youth
Classics Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the study of Latin and Classics on the elementary and middle school levels.
Matthew is also a Latin instructor and Certamen coach for the Public Schools of Brookline, an urban school district just outside of Boston.
He has a decade of experience teaching Latin on the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels, has edited or authored several publications
related to Classics pedagogy, and has conducted dozens of presentations and workshops. Matthew is looking forward to working with the teachers
of the New York area!
